CASE STUDY
Before rolling out the Electronic Speed Limit Sign (ESLS) project, Western Australian School Zones were designated by static speed signs, which were criticised for low visibility and resultant poor driver awareness and compliance.
Using wireless communication technology and solar power, J1-LED’s ESLS is autonomous - eliminating the need for mains power and costly capital works. The signs are highly visible, with ambient light level sensing and automatic dimming.
The signs only operate during nominated school morning and afternoon periods, alerting drivers that the School Zone is in effect.
